 Tikkun Leil Shavuot

Sunday, May 16 beginning at 8:00 PM Pacific Time

Congregation P’nai Tikvah will be holding a Tikkun Leil Shavuot * (an evening of study) on Sunday, May 16 beginning at 8:00 PM Pacific Time. Rabbi Mintz, Cantor Marla, and Reb Jamie will each lead a 50 minute session, followed by a 10 minute break. 

Session 1: 8:00 – 8:50 PM: Rabbi Mintz leads discussion of “The Book of Ruth.” This book can be found in the K’tuvim section of the TaNaCh;

Session 2: 9:00 – 9:50 PM: Cantor Marla leads discussion on “Why We Sing When We Sing It: Music of the Jewish Calendar”

Session 3: 10:00 PM – 10: 50 PM: Reb Jamie leads discussion on “Shavuot:  Food for Thought”

The following day, Monday May 17, Yizkor services will be held at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. They will be led by congregational and clergy participants. 

We wish to give our enormous thanks to our production crew, De’Anna Ernst and Shayna Davis, for their tireless work.

*The holiday of Shavuot, in part, commemorates the receiving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. It’s traditional to stay up all night on the holiday studying Torah, a tradition known as Tikkun Leil Shavuot.
