Rental Assistance Information from Nevadans for the Common Good
Here is what we know:
1) There is $30 million from the State and $30 million from Clark County allocated toward residential rental assistance and it will run out fast. Anyone who wants to apply should do so as soon as possible. It will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
2) For people who live in Clark County, you can find out more HERE!
You will need to contact a service provider listed on the page to apply. Attached HERE! is more detailed information on providers who will be able to assist you more specifically.
3) Here is the State of Nevada CARES Housing Assistance Program Link HERE! though the link for Clark County residents has not yet been established (as of 07/17). It is likely that when the link is established, it will also lead to the CHAT program linked above. For Washoe County and rural counties, the links are live.
4) For news stories on the program including eligibility information, you can find out more HERE! or HERE!
If you have questions about the programs, please contact someone connected to the programs. NCG does not have additional programmatic information.
Thank you!

Call for Volunteers
JFSA is looking for volunteers in the food pantry and we would love to have your help!
We are taking every precaution with regard to the COVID-19 virus in an effort to make volunteering low risk. To assist our efforts and keep yourself safe, if you are over the age of 60, immune-compromised, are caring for someone who may have been exposed to COVID-19, or if you have a fever, are coughing or sneezing, please stay at home.
As of March 19, we have removed the need for clients to come into the main lobby and the pantry lobby. Pantry operations have shifted to a drive-thru process where we have pre-packed food bags for the clients based on family size. We are utilizing only 2 or 3 volunteers each day to pack the bags in preparation for the day’s appointments. No volunteers will be around or in contact with clients. We will be furnishing all volunteers with face masks and gloves.
Pantry hours are as follows until further notice:
Monday – 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Tuesday – 9:00am to 4:00pm
Wednesday – 9:00am to 2:00pm
Thursday – 9:00am to 4:00pm
Friday – 9:00am to 2:00pm
Please consider signing up to volunteer as the need in our community is now greater than ever. Remember that, even when the Las Vegas community gets knocked down, we are all Vegas Strong when we work together.
To volunteer, contact Sherri Freedman at 702-732-0304 ext.119 or sfreedman@jfsalv.org
Other Ways YOU Can Help!
We are still going to need donations of food to ensure our food pantry remains stocked. Any canned and non-perishable goods you are able to spare are greatly appreciated. You can drop them off at the JFSA office or we can arrange to get them from you.
Financial donations are helpful as well. Your donation will ensure the ongoing operations of JFSA stay strong and in-tact. There is a donate button below.
Volunteers are needed to deliver and drop off food to our seniors. In order to secure the safety of our clients, we will need to do a quick background check on anyone interested in helping. We know this may sound intrusive, but the safety of everyone is our main concern. We will ask you for a copy of your driver’s license and completion of a short volunteer registration form. We discourage volunteers from high-risk groups (like those over 60) for their own safety.
We thank you for your continued support and we wish everyone health and wellness!
